Pretty In The Rain Part I

[enthält markenanzeigen/advertisement] Today, I am starting a very big and a very important topic here: rain protection. It is a vast theme which combines function, technical aspects as well as aesthetic.

The first thing that comes to your mind when you think of rain protection is – not surprisingly – an umbrella.

An umbrella is, of course, important. But frankly, is it sufficient? Haven’t you experienced situations where you walk with an umbrella in the rain and get completely soaking wet because of the wind coming from all sides? Frankly, the solution “umbrella only” helps just in case of no wind at all – which is rarely the case when it’s raining!

In addition to this, you can’t use any umbrella if you ride a bicycle or one of those new EScooters that I totally adore!

Finally, an umbrella is rather stiff and can be heavy, too. So there are just a couple of arguments against an umbrella, as you see.

That’s why, I would like to speak about raincoats today.

You can wear a raincoat in addition to an umbrella or instead – especially if you’re riding a bike or an EScooter.

There is some misunderstanding about this term: all those functional jackets from big names like Jack Wolfskin or The North Face – are those raincoats?

Strictly speaking, they are not, even if they are often called so. For me, a raincoat is something I take with me for the case that it starts raining. As for the Outdoor products, they are meant to be worn instead of ordinary jackets.

Many of the outdoor jackets are designed for bike trips or mountaineering and are certainly very helpful. And still I ask myself – how often do I make those mountain trips? I may have been on such a trip once or twice in my whole life. Anyway, these are rare, exceptional events that the majority of us only sees on pictures.

There are situations, though, that concern us all every day – your daily way in the city, especially if you ride a bike or an EScooter, where you are exposed to increasing rain probability because of the climate getting less and less predictable. Now that’s something really important for everyone of us!

What requirements does such a raincoat have to meet?

My Nr.1 requirement is: is should be very compact and be worn in a small purse, so that I can carry it with me. Frankly, I don’t need a raincoat if the weather is fine – but very often, it changes abruptly.

As for the rain protection, waterproof would be nice. But even if it’s not completely waterproof on the seams, but the material is water repellent, it’s enough for me. After all, I am probably not going to spend hours under a strong rain; it is more about emergency situations in the city, before you’ve reached the next metro station or your office.

A raincoat that is waterproof/water repellent, windproof, with a great hood and comes with its own small purse – these are the basics.

What about the length? I think, it’s a matter of taste; I personally prefer longer raincoats that offer great leg protection. Longer coats may not be good for riding a bike, but quite OK for EScooter.

Last but not least, the design. Functionality and style, all combined in one – a dream raincoat!
We don’t need any raincoats that we will be ashamed of; it should be chic and city- appropriate.

Traditionally, raincoats are made of dark materials. Actually, though, there is nothing that speaks against brighter solutions: water repellent fabrics also have a stain-resistant coating. So why not brighten up a gloomy rain day?

But of course, dark raincoats can be so stylish, as well!

For my today’s Article, I brought something really special for you – this fabulous DelanZa Raincoat ” White Graffiti”, currently available at the Elsa Kelli Online Shop www.elsakelli.com.

Light and compact, it comes with its own purse, which you can wear on your waist, crossbody or else attach to your EScooter or your bike.

Last but not least – das Design.
