Summer Statement Boots Part I

[enthält markenanzeigen/advertisement] Rules are made to be broken! Sandals are not the only footwear option in the summer. In fact, you can totally rock boots in the summer, as well!

One of the most creative pieces, an ultimate Summer Statement – Summer Boots! What changes if you are wearing Boots instead of sandals with your summer outfit? Wearing boots in the summer definitely adds some edge to your ensemble, creating #boho vibes or else #streetchic style.

Actually, summer boots are perfect for the transition time like August and September ( I am referring to european climate conditions). Personally, I wear summer boots starting from August, where you feel you are already heading for autumn. Right now, it’s officially time to start transitioning your wardrobe from summer to fall and the best way you can achieve this is pairing your summer dresses and skirts with a pair of boots to make you look – and feel! – so cool!

There are most diverse interpretations Summer Boots  can be subjected to. So let’s have a look at some style tips and examples on how to wear Summer Boots.

First of all, let’s see what types of Summer Boots exist, generally.

The most common iconic styles are cowboy (western) boots and combat boots. These are actually pieces that are very multi-functional and classic, they can be worn all the year round. Especially combat boots are one of the hottest trends today.

Another solution are Summer Boots that are created with “summer in mind”, so to say. These are, for instance, mesh boots or laser cut boots and – my preferred option – peep-toe boots! I personally prefer peep-toe Summer Boots for a quite obvious reason: they provide more ventilation.

Logically, the next question that arises is what to match to Summer Boots.

At first sight you might think that it’s quite difficult to choose garments for matching them with Summer Boots. But this is not the case. As a matter of fact, you can freely match them with nearly everything: dresses, shorts, and skirts. Summer boots are super-versatile, which means they can match any garment – except, maybe, for the really elegant and classy options – thus creating #streetchic styles and looks. Matching Summer Boots with jeans does not make much sense to me, though.

As for the basic iconic styles that can be created with summer boots, they can be classified into:

#boho style: to achieve this style, combine boots with long skirts, knitted tops with belts, handbags and pieces of bijou with ethnic inspirations.

#country style will be easily created with the help of western boots. Also, you’ll need some accessories, which are associated with the cowboy style – like belts and fringed leather accessories, for instance.

#safari style – sandy shades and natural materials with a pair of matching summer boots will make your safari look perfect.

#casual style matching leather boots with shorts or T-shirts is ideal for the #streetchic look. A cute top or a cotton shirt will combine comfort and stylishness.

These were the traditional styles that can be achieved with summer boots. But fashion is getting less and less traditional and less and less obvious, as you know! Unexpected the pairing achieves stronger effect! The following rule is valid here: the more contrast between the styles, the hotter and trendier the resulting look!

Try pairing combat boots with a semi-transparent, airy and ruffled summer dress – you are sure to add edge and get the ultimate trendsetter look!

One more example of unexpected pairings: contrast a white dress with a pair of dark grunge boots. It is sure to add some unexpected edge to your ensemble.

How about wearing peep-toe overknees with cutouts – a truly grown – up version…Proceed with caution!

Besides the options enumerated above, Summer Boots also generally go well with maxi and asymmetrical skirts, with cute mini dresses, with short denim shorts.  I will surely come back to this theme on my Combicity Journal to show more combinations and styles around Summer Boots!

For my today’s look, I opted for the absolutely fantastic peep-toe suede mid- calf wedges in a summer-friendly, neutral color. The cutout at the toes won’t suffocate your feet, and the neutral color pairs nicely with the majority of items in the summer wardrobe.

I paired the suede boots with animal – printed shorts and a coordinating blouse and a couple of leather accessories (fringed statement belt + fringed statement cuff, available at Fliottaby the way, you might be interested to read my previous Article about Statement Leather Accessories).

The XXL bag puts an urban twist on the look – transitional dressing at its finest. It is not an all too unexpected pairing, in fact, the overall ensemble is rather reduced, almost monochromatic, the contrast between the shorts length and the boots toughening the look up.

What do you think of the summer boots trend? Will you try it? In what combinations?

See you next time and stay tuned for more transitional styles with Summer Boots that I hope will provide inspiration for you while creating your August and September outfits!

– so cool!

Proceed with caution!

In welchen Kombinationen?
