But this season, this print is really taking over! Not only Leopard, but really, all Animal Prints: Leopards, Tigers, Zebras and Snakes. Great Animal Print Revival – that’s what I would call it!
Why are Animal Prints and, specifically, Leopard Prints so special? Apart from being pretty, they are symbolic of power and seduction and associated in the history with luxury, royalty and goddesses.
What makes animal print different this year compared with previous seasons is that women are getting more creative with how they incorporate it into their outfits. Especially Leopard print coats are very trendy at the moment. The common trend is to pair these coats with a pair of jeans, T-Shirt and sneakers, to make the Animal trend more wearable than it has ever been – away from the previously common classical interpretation with heels and a dress.
The modern rules of combining Leopard Print further allow wearing Leopard with other prints like checks or stripes in the same outfit – once an absolutely unthinkable style solution. But combining it with even more Leopard-printed items in the same outfit is still considered to be too flashy.
But I decided to test the limits of the Leopard trend, to go really, really wild and transpose Leopard to the urban jungle we are living in. How about opting, contrary to the rules, for a Leopard-all-over look, including Leopard-printed Accessories? Would that be too much?
I took the 3 pc. black-and-white leopard-printed set: skirt, pullover and beanie-cap (available at Elsa Kelli, online shop at www.elsakelli.com) and added an artificial fur clutch in the same color and print (available at Fliotta, online shop at www.fliotta.com). I further complemented the look with black overknee socks, boots and sunglasses.
By the way, the black-and white Leopard is the so-called Snow Leopard – an amazingly beautiful and endangered species of the Central Asia….
Basically, I did not think whole look was really leopard-overloaded. The low-key black-and white leopard print version enables the harmonized classical overall black-and white solution. But I think it would also work fine with the brown Leopard version.
This shows, that you can sometimes really go beyond the limits with Leopard – the must-have print of the moment that you just can’t resist!

Leopardenmuster ging nie wirklich aus der Mode. Jahrzehntelang war es ein fester Bestandteil in der Garderobe jeder stilvollen Frau. Aber in dieser Saison übernimmt dieser Print wirklich die Oberhand! Nicht nur Leopard, sondern wirklich alle Animal Prints: Leoparden, Tiger, Zebras und Schlangen. Warum sind Animal Prints und speziell Leopard Prints eigentlich so besonders? Abgesehen davon, dass sie hübsch sind, sind sie ein Symbol für Macht und Verführung und werden aus der Geschichte mit Luxus, Königen und Göttinnen assoziiert.
Was Tierdruck in diesem Jahr im Vergleich zu früheren Saisons unterscheidet, ist, dass Frauen immer kreativer werden, wie sie es in ihre Outfits integrieren. Besonders Leopardenprint-Mäntel sind momentan sehr angesagt. Der Trend geht dahin, diese Mäntel mit Jeans, T-Shirt und Sneakers zu kombinieren, um den Animal-Trend tragbarer zu machen als je zuvor – weg von der bisher üblichen klassischen Interpretation mit Heels und einem Kleid.
Die modernen Regeln der Kombination von Leopard Print ermöglichen es, Leopard auch mit anderen Mustern wie Karos oder Streifen im selben Outfit zu tragen – einst eine absolut undenkbare Stillösung. Aber es wird immer noch als zu auffällig und dekadent empfunden, es mit noch mehr mit Leoparden bedruckten Gegenständen in demselben Outfit zu kombinieren.
Dennoch entschied ich mich, die Grenzen des Leopard-Trends zu testen, wirklich wild zu werden und Leopard in den Großstadtdschungel zu bringen! Wie wäre es, wenn wir gegen die Regeln einen Leopard-All-Over-Look wählen würden, inklusive Leopard – bedruckte Accessoires? Wäre das zu viel?
Ich nahm das 3-Teilige schwarz-weiße Set mit Leoparden-Print: Rock, Pullover und Beanie-Cap (erhältlich bei Elsa Kelli, Online-Shop unter www.elsakelli.com) und eine Kunstpelz-Clutch in den gleichen Farbe und Druck (erhältlich bei Fliotta, online shop bei www.fliotta.com). Den Look habe ich mit schwarzen Overkneesocken, Stiefeln und Sonnenbrillen ergänzt.
Der schwarz-weiße Leopard ist, übrigens, der sogenannte Schneeleopard – eine erstaunlich schöne und vom Aussterben bedrohte Art aus Zentralasien ….
Im Grunde hatte ich nicht den Eindruck, dass der ganze Look wirklich zu Leoparden-überladen war. Die schwarz-weiße Leoparden-Print-Version ermöglichte die harmonisierte klassische Schwarz-Weiß-Gesamtlösung. Ich glaube aber, es funktioniert mit der braunen Version genau so gut.
Das zeigt, dass wir manchmal über die Grenzen hinaus gehen können mit Leopard – dem Must-Have Print des Augenblicks, dem wir einfach nicht widerstehen können!
